ISO management systems as a tool for sustainable and responsible management

Project at a glance

Management systems designed in accordance with the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) can make a significant or very significant contribution to sustainable and responsible management. According to a representative survey, about half of the companies in Switzerland agree with this statement. This result is significant because almost one in six Swiss companies uses an ISO management system or plans to introduce one. Among companies with 10 or more employees, the figure is almost one in two. Political and corporate efforts to strengthen sustainability and responsibility in the private sector should therefore consider how this widely used management tool can be leveraged. The potential is considerable across different company sizes and sectors. ISO management systems are well known and widely used in both manufacturing and services. This is the result of a representative survey of 500 Swiss companies conducted by the University of Applied Sciences of Grisons in collaboration with the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems (SQS).
