Library and Digitalisation of Analogue Cultural Assets
Overview

Overview

Libraries involve the acquisition, cataloguing, archiving, provision and transmission of published information. Within the context of digitalisation, developments in the area of communication and information technology in the realms of science and society, these traditional tasks of libraries are undergoing fundamental change.

In the Digital Library research field, we investigate to what extent the tasks of scientific and public libraries and usage behaviour in physical and virtual settings are actually changing, which strategies and methods can be applied for dealing with new challenges and how media can be recorded, archived and transmitted.

Specific research topics include: libraries in a state of transition, Digital Strategies for libraries, metadata management and new standards as well as Data Management and use in libraries.
