Data Science as a discipline can be applied to a variety of fields. The special fields in DAViS are the analysis of process data and the visualisation of extensive data sets. Process data is data that is time-dependent or at least in a succession relationship, such as log data from software or machines. Visualisation is the most important means of making the results of data analyses comprehensible and understandable. This applies both to the work of the data scientist during the analysis and to the presentation of results to the target audience.

Machine Learning is an indispensable auxiliary discipline of Data Science. DAViS focuses on both 'classic' machine learning and deep learning. Through targeted prioritisation of new positions and cooperation with AI Lab 42 in Davos, the area of general AI is gaining importance in DAViS.
