Consulting projects

In addition to research and development projects, University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons also conducts consulting projects for external partners. Orders relating to studies, consulting, expert reports, tests, measurements, analyses, etc. are taken care of by our lecturers and academic staff. In doing so, they work with established methods and tools.

Big Data and Analytics

How can information and knowledge be gained from data? The research activities in the areas of Data Analytics, User Research as well as Digital Business and Usability Engineering look at Big Data and Analytics.

Construction in Alpine Regions

In Alpine living environments, buildings are exposed to more extreme stresses than is the case elsewhere due to the prevailing climatic and topographical conditions. University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons deals with Alpine Infrastructure Constructions as well as Settlement Planning and Townscape Development.

Development of Tourism

In order to develop tourism successfully, changes and innovations are required with respect to the relevant offerings and business models. University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons focuses on the research fields of Service Innovation in the Tourism Sector, Tourism 4.0 and the Management of Tourism Real Estate and Infrastructures.

Economic Policy

The Economic Policy research of University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons primarily focuses on Alpine regions and adopts an application and solution-oriented approach in addressing the research fields of Regional Development, Labour Market and Social Policy as well as Energy Economics.

Information Organisation

To ensure that the right information is in the right place at the right time, University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons focuses on Information Organisation and deals with the research fields of Data Management, Digital Library, the Digitalisation of Analogue Cultural Assets and Digital Long-term Archiving.

Media Convergence and Multimediality

How can multimedia work be implemented from a technical and content perspective and what impact does this have? The research fields of Media Use and Production in the Convergent and Dynamic Media Environment, Innovative Storytelling Formats and Work Processes as well as Multimedia Systems for Content Visualisation address these questions.

Private Entrepreneurship

The objective is to promote entrepreneurial thinking and actions in the economy with a focus on the areas of Innovation, Internationalisation, Digital Strategies and corporate responsibility.

Public Entrepreneurship

The objective is to promote entrepreneurial actions in the area of public administration in order to achieve the desired level of efficiency and effectiveness. Focus here is placed on municipal mergers, Strategy, Organisation and Evaluation as well as Voluntary Activities.

Settlement Development

Challenges faced in the areas of spatial planning and residential development as well as in connection with the associated changes to townscapes are a central theme in Alpine regions. University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons deals with Settlement Planning and Townscape Development as well as Spatial Planning and Settlement Development.

Advanced and Smart Sensors / Internet of Things

The research focus area of Smart Sensors and Applied Robotics looks at the application of photonics technologies for the procurement and evaluation of information, primarily in the application areas of industry and medical technology as well as the development of intelligent robots.

With its laboratories, University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons offers companies from the worlds of industry, business and research as well as public organisations its expertise and support in addition to access to state-of-the-art infrastructure. Our experts hold presentations and conduct measurements and analyses in various areas in accordance with client wishes. University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons is expanding its laboratories on an ongoing basis – with the objective of remaining at the cutting edge and meeting the requirements of new procedures, technologies and developments. Available laboratories:

Lab: 3D surface measurement

Using optical strip light projection, the surface of any component can be recorded three-dimensionally in a contactless and highly precise manner.

Architectural Model Construction

In the Architectural model construction, students have the opportunity to create their own models under expert guidance and to acquire model making skills during classes. Our services are also available for external clients.

Building Lab

The Building Lab is a service offering aimed at companies, public institutions and private individuals as part of which material tests – in accordance with or outside the relevant standard – are conducted on building materials (concrete, wood, steel, etc.) as well as experiments on supporting structures.

Device Efficiency Lab

Provision of consulting services and performance of measurement procedures with respect to the energy efficiency of electrical devices. Additional parameters can also be addressed at the client’s request.

Laboratory Digezz Media Lab 2.0

The Digezz Media Lab 2.0 is used by the Institute for Multimedia Production (IMP) for the production of convergent, multimedia contents.

Digi Lab

The Digitalisation Lab of University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons provides education and training aimed at preserving audiovisual cultural assets and is also available as a service for smaller digitalisation series.

EMC Test Centre

Provision of consulting services and flexible performance of measurement procedures with respect to the EMC immunity and EMC emission of devices.

Library Lab

The basic idea behind the LibraryLab of University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons is to allow for new technologies to be tried out in a kind of makerspace and for their application to be tested in libraries. Libraries are showing great interest in integrating ‘small technologies’, in particular, in library work.

Lighting Lab

Provision of consulting services and the performance of photometric measurement procedures relating to luminous flux, brightness, light intensity, illumination intensity, colour temperature, energy efficiency and flicker values as well as in connection with the colour rendering index.

Photonics Lab

Provision of consulting services and performance of measurement procedures for the characterisation of optoelectronic components and systems as well as for eye safety and immunity to external light sources.

Service Innovation Lab (SIL)

The Service Innovation Lab (SIL) of University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons is the competence centre for human-centric service innovation in Graubünden. We are experts in the fields of design thinking, lean start-up, Google sprints, business modelling and other methods.

Usability Lab

The Usability Lab offers ideal conditions for the implementation of eye-tracking studies, usability tests and focus groups. We support you with the user-based development of your offers as well as with issues relating to the conception, analysis and optimisation of your interactive products.
