At a glance

Eye and skin safety are critical factors when developing consumer products. The Optoelectronic Competence Centre was founded in 2018/19 to help students gain the skills needed to ensure product safety and to be accessible to the wider industry. It provides expertise and services from diverse areas as well as eye safety services.

Offer

Offer

We offer measurement of the following:

  • Output (continuous and pulsed)
  • (Spectral) irradiance
  • (Spectral) radiance
  • Spatial distribution (beam profiles)
  • Time curve (pulse patterns)
  • VIS and NIR

This allows us to address the following:

  • Photobiological Safety of Lamps and Lamp Systems (IEC/EN 62471)
    • including blue light hazard
  • Safety of Laser Products (IEC/EN 60825)
    • including laser pointers in accordance with NIRSA (Federal Act on Protection against the Risks associated with Non-Ionising Radiation and with Sound)
  • Determination of the angular subtense of the apparent source (alpha, C6 factor)
  • Beam diameter
  • Transmission and reflection measurements
  • Further standards and measurements available on request
  • On-site measurements
  • Consultations
