The professionally managed and modernly equipped Model Workshop is used for the production of models in the areas of architecture, design and engineering.
On the one hand, our services are an integral part of the university education provided to new architects and civil engineers. On the other hand we are also available to the private sector in the areas of model making, consulting and the sale of materials. A further area of activity is the training of young professionals in the field of architectural model making. With a view to a new occupational profile and the revised vocational training required for this career path, two apprentices have been completing their vocational apprenticeship in our Model Workshop since summer 2017.
Offer
We are able to produce complex models in the areas of architecture and engineering as well as prototypes for design and advertising purposes. Thanks to our modern machinery with precision circular saws, precision band saws, various milling and grinding machines as well as CNC cutting and milling plotters, we can implement ideas efficiently.
Location and city models
Location and city models are an essential planning and management instrument for urban development. We produce urban planning models in a wide range of scales and with very different levels of detail. We would be happy to advise you with respect to the materials used for your model as well as its colour concept and detailed implementation. Together with you, we develop concepts for how you can make the location or city model available to your planners and architects as a service and work instrument.
Engineering models
For roads and infrastructure constructions
As a planning tool and information instrument, we create models using various scales and design variants that allow you to communicate traffic concepts and illustrate traffic routing. Models are an important tool for the landscape. They allow for the spatial effect and function of bridges and other infrastructure constructions to be examined. They help decision-makers during the search for solutions for which a consensus can be found. We would be happy to advise you with respect to the use of models for the communication of infrastructure projects.
Competition models
Basic models for architecture competitions
We create basic models for you made of plaster or plastic for architecture competitions. However, we not only produce and deliver the models, we also provide consulting services to the competition organisers with respect to the implementation, costs and scheduling of the basic models. We organise the required data and plans, consolidate them and prepare them for the manufacturing process. On the basis of the acquired data, we create the master form as a template for the casting of the competition models.
Project models for architecture competitions
In close cooperation with our clients and strictly protecting anonymity, we create your individual project model for the architecture competition. We advise you with respect to detailing options and materials for the project model and produce the model on schedule. For the production of the models, we use both state-of-the-art digital manufacturing technologies as well as tried-and-tested craftsmanship.
