Oleg Stepanenko grew up and graduated from school in Lower Franconia, Bavaria. His fascination for politics and society led him to the University of Würzburg, where he was accepted as a student of Political and Social Studies in the university studies program for secondary school students. Thanks to the early entry, he managed to complete his Bachelor's degree only a few months after his Abitur. After a short detour into law studies, he completed his consecutive Master's degree in Political and Social Sciences.
Before starting at the UAS Grisons, Oleg Stepanenko worked as a visiting lecturer at the Institute of Political Science and Sociology and as the Quality Manager of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Würzburg. Since December 2022, he has been project leader for quality assurance and development at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons and is looking forward to developing himself as well as quality at the UAS Grisons.
