Having grown up in Germany, Japan and Switzerland, Flurina Simeon Spagnolo attended the University of Teacher Education Graubünden, where she completed a Bachelor's degree in Primary Education. After another stay in Japan, she moved on and graduated from the University of London in 2000 with a B.A. in Japanese Studies.
Simeon then worked for two years at Philips in Tokyo in the Corporate Strategy department. Back in Switzerland, she worked for Roche in Basel for eight years. During this time, Simeon continued her education at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and graduated with a MAS in Communication Management. At the end of her tenure, as Head of Intranet Team, she was responsible for all global electronic communication tools (intranet, blogs, e-newsletters, etc.). Simeon then gained journalistic experience at RheinFluss-Magazin and Südostschweiz Mediengruppe before working for a short time as Marketing Communication Specialist for Hamilton Bonaduz.
Since July 2012, Flurina Simeon has been responsible for internal and external communication at UAS Grisons. She is also responsible for the topic of communication in the internal committees Quality Conference and in the team for emergency and crisis management. Additionally she represents the university in the Communication Commission of the Universities of Applied Sciences Chamber of swissuniversities. In January 2021, Simeon completed the CAS in Brand Journalism & Corporate Storytelling, a course offered by the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts with the MAZ - The Swiss School of Journalism.
