Werner Hediger has been the head of the Center for Economic Policy Research at University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons. He studied economics at the University of Zurich, Switezrland,where he also received his doctorate in economics. He also habilitated at ETH Zurich, where he has been a lecturer in resource and environmental economics since 2006.
Werner Hediger has research and teaching experience in various areas. He was a scientific officer and head of the environmental economics group at the Paul Scherrer Institute, Würenlingen, Switzerland. During this time he was also invited as a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, and as a co-author of the second report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Werner Hediger was then senior assistant at the Institute for Agricultural Economics at ETH Zurich, research associate at the Center for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at the University of Zurich and professor for resource and environmental economics and head of the master's program in life sciences at the Swiss School of Agriculture SHL. His research interests and focus are on questions related to sustainable development at local to global level as well as the economic use of the environment and natural resources, especially related to energy systems in alpine regions and regional development. In addition, Werner Hediger is board member of the foundation Alpine Energy Research Center Disentis.
