Sina Blassnig, Ph.D., is Senior Research and Teaching Associate at the Department of Communication and Media Research (IKMZ), University of Zurich, from which she has also received her Ph.D. Her research and teaching interests include digital journalism, new media technologies, and political communication from a comparative perspective. She has been a visiting researcher at the Smart Family Institute of Communications, Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel) and at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR), University of Amsterdam (Netherlands). Her current research projects focus on algorithmic news recommender systems, digital hate speech, and citizens’ media use and information behavior in digital information environments.
