A new star has appeared in the Grisons sky with the opening of DAViS in 2024. DAViS, a new institute at Fachhochschule Graubünden, is dedicated to Data Analysis, AI, Visualization, and Simulation, aiming to empower the region with Data-Driven Innovation.
The inauguration of the DAViS Institute marks a pivotal moment in data-centric exploration. With a collaborative spirit between FH Graubünden, SIAF, and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre, DAViS stands as a hub for transformative research and practical application, delivering new data-driven technologies such as artificial intelligence, simulation, and visualization to Grisons and beyond. The official opening in April 2024 was celebrated by many and kicked off with an address by the rector, Dr. Jürg Kessler, followed by an overview of the institute and its programs by its inaugural director, Prof. Heiko Rölke, and the Dean of Studies, Prof. Capol Corsin. As a first glimpse into ongoing collaborations, a keynote was delivered by DAViS project partners Swiss-SKI, presented by Walter Reusser, CEO Sports, and Björn Bruhin, Research Coordinator.
At its core, DAViS offers a comprehensive academic program, equipping students with essential skills in data analytics and scientific computing. DAViS promises to rise as a new bright light in Grisons!
