Celebration of the 20th anniversary of the foundation of Nobel Laureate Christiane Nüsslein-Volhardt in Berlin.

19. September 2024

DAViS lecturer Helena Jambor, an alumna of the program, was a guest of Christiane Nüsslein-Volhardt in Berlin. On Friday 13 September, guests and alumnae gathered at the Harnack House of the Max Planck Society to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Christiane Nüsslein-Volhardt (CNV) Foundation.

Established in 2004, the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Research supports talented young women with children in the experimental natural sciences, giving them the freedom and mobility they need to pursue a scientific career.

The evening was opened by a short welcome from the Nobel Laureate, before former German Chancellor Angela Merkel highlighted the special role of promoting women in science. Further speeches were given by Patrick Cramer, President of the Max Planck Society, and Maria Leptin, President of the European Research Council (ERC). A series of scientific presentations provided insights into the research of current and former fellows in the fields of neurobiology, biophysics, chemistry and astronomy.
