Sustainable ecosystem management in urban areas

It doesn’t matter whether you originally come from the field of landscape architecture, architecture, construction, spatial planning, urban planning or a plant and tree-related occupation: you can benefit from the interdisciplinary and cooperative training offered by the CAS in Urban Forestry that takes in several professions. You develop an integrative view of urban development and the management of urban ecosystems.

The CAS comprises five thematic specialist courses (basic module) as well as a transdisciplinary practical module. In both of these modules, you get to know different elements: trees and the forest, the environment and ecology, the urban landscape, cities, society and the necessary participatory communication strategies that contribute to an urban whole. You will also adopt interdisciplinary approaches in working on case studies in Swiss cities and implement a specific project in the practical module.

The specialist courses can also be booked individually.

The aim is to provide you with a 'toolbox' that equips you with interdisciplinary integrative knowledge as well as application and future-oriented practices for sustainably shaping urban ecosystems. Field exercises, excursions as well as the use of new technologies and innovative multimedia learning forms round off the offer.
